'Failure'
The Impact of Internalized Trauma on Perception of Life
Conceptual solo exhibition, March 2022, Budapest, K6 Gallery
The experience of failure is undoubtedly something we all share. We encounter it under different circumstances, driven by various causes, and it affects each of us in different ways. Yet, the emotions it triggers are familiar, even expected: shame, anger, helplessness, sadness, exhaustion, vulnerability, and loneliness may all emerge. Sometimes, we feel the full spectrum of negative emotions.
These experiences influence our lives in complex and intricate ways. Failure can even become a central part of our identity, shaping our decisions, stories, and potentially our entire fate.
The exhibition focused on how failure often stems from external judgments and societal expectations. Without these external judgments, our actions could be seen as part of a learning process, and the concept of failure would likely lose much of its weight.
By sharing intimate details of my own life in the artworks I created a space where vulnerability was natural. It fostered compassion and self-reflection and allowed the visitors to open up, connect, and be vulnerable themselves when sharing their own experiences.
